Completed 🎉 excited 📍 Back porch 🌤️ Cold morning
A fluffy baby koala peeking over the back of a sleeping golden retriever on a wooden porch.

You are not going to believe what I woke up to this morning. I went out to the back porch to check on my golden retriever Asha and I saw this... lump on her back. A small grey furry lump. My first thought was that she'd rolled in something weird but then it moved and I nearly had a heart attack.

It was a koala. A tiny, tiny baby koala, just snuggled right into her fur. I've never seen anything like it. Asha was just lying there, she looked up at me like 'what?' She was totally calm about the whole thing, a bit confused maybe but not stressed at all. She just let this little creature use her as a warm bed. I took a picture because I knew no one would ever believe me.

It got really cold here last night, like surprisingly cold for this time of year. The news said it dropped pretty low. And this little koala is so small, there is no way it would have survived the night on its own. It must have fallen out of its mom's pouch somewhere nearby and just crawled toward the first warm thing it could find. Which happened to be my dog. Asha literally saved its life, I'm sure of it. Her fur is so thick and warm, she was like a living electric blanket for it.

So now I have a baby koala on my dog and I have absolutely no idea what to do. Do I try to take it off? It seems so comfortable I dont want to scare it. Do I call someone? Who do you even call about this kind of thing? A vet? Wildlife rescue? I'm just kind of staring at them both, totally stunned. What a weird way to start the day.

Has anyone ever seen anything like this? What am I supposed to do?
