The baby koala is now with a wildlife carer, which is the best thing for it, but the house feels quiet.

Completed 😒 sad πŸ“ Home
The golden retriever, Asha, lying on the wooden porch by herself, looking a little sad and looking off into the distance.

So this is probably the last update. The wildlife carer came by this morning and picked up the joey. She was so knowledgeable and kind, and you could just tell she really loved these animals. She had a special warm pouch for it and everything. She said it'll get all the care it needs and will hopefully be released back into the wild when it's big and strong enough. That's the best possible outcome.

It feels good knowing it's in the right place, but I'm also kind of sad. It was really emotional watching her take it away. It's been such a crazy few days, feels like a dream or something. One minute you're just living your normal life, the next you're part of this wild animal rescue mission. The house feels really quiet now that the excitement is over.

I'm so incredibly proud of Asha. She’s always been a gentle dog, but I never imagined she'd do something like this. She just instinctively knew this tiny animal needed help and she protected it. She’s a hero. She's been a bit mopey today, just lying around. I gave her some extra treats and cuddles, I think she deserves it.

The carer said we probably won't get any specific updates on this particular joey, which I understand. They have so many animals to look after and they have to keep them wild. But it is a little sad knowing we'll never know for sure what happens to it. You just have to trust that it's going to be okay. Anyway, thats the end of our koala story. What an experience.

So glad we could help. Has anyone ever volunteered at a wildlife rescue?
